Call Me Woke
White Progressive Liberals took up the term, diluting it to cover a broader range of issues from racism to misogyny, and from LGBTQ bigotry to social equality. Right Wing Republicans added the sneer and sarcasm, to show their disdain for any who lay claim to liberal views.
When Cancer Calls
We finally had a visit with the surgeon. Scott thought it was just to check on his feeding tube. The doctor came in with a big smile and said, “Okay now. We’ve scheduled a date for your surgery. September 29th.” The color drained from Scott’s face. “I thought I had more time.”
